For painting, when requested we use Benjamin Moore’s Eco Spec paint, primer sealer, interior latex flat, interior latex eggshell, and exterior latex semi-glass. For floors, we offer the option of using bamboo flooring. Bamboo looks like wood, but it’s actually a grass product that rejuvenates on it’s own without the need of replanting.
Note: Hardwoods floor deplete valuable resources and cost a lot of money to install.
Why use Eco Spec Paint and what is Volatile Organic Compounds? VOC are released from many sources, we are concern with VOC that are released in the home. The environmental protection agency had stated that concentration of VOC tend to e 2-5 times higher than indoor air. Major contributors of VOC emission in the home are: paint thinners, paint, wood preservatives, lacquers, paint strippers, and some household cleaners.
Why care? The health effects of VOC depend on many variables such as the length and concentration of exposure. Some immediate health effects of VOC are: eye, nose, and throat irritation; headaches, and nausea. Long term effects: Susceptible to cancer in humans.
Note: Benjamin Moore Eco Spec Paint has a very low Volatile Organic Compound emission and low odor, which will reduce the change of indoor pollution.
